Chrome extension · v1.0 · nine years in the making

Drag toward a direction.
Search or open, instantly.

Select any text, link, or image, fling it up, down, left, or right — and Super Drag turns the gesture into a search in your engine of choice. The classic super-drag, rebuilt from zero for the modern web.

~12×faster drags in v1.0

Three moves, no clicking

The whole gesture happens where your cursor already is.

1

Select anything

Highlighted text, any link, any image — or just press and hold on a link. No menus, no copy-paste.

2

Fling toward a direction

Each direction carries its own search engine. A live pill follows your cursor and names the engine before you drop.

3

Drop

A search opens in that engine; links and images open directly. Hold Shift to bring the tab to front, Esc to cancel.

Creator story

I helped build browsers. Then I built the extension I missed.

I was an early Chromium browser developer, writing C++. We built the desktop browser ChromePlus — later renamed CoolNovo — which Tencent acquired in 2012, and I kept working on Chromium-based browsers until 2017.

When that chapter ended, I wanted Chrome as my daily browser. What I looked for first was what third-party browsers had taught me to expect: super drag, mouse gestures, a boss key. Chrome had none of them, and nothing on the Web Store filled the gap. So I built it myself: Super Drag started as a basic implementation in September 2017, went up on the Web Store that month, and has been in daily use ever since — thirty thousand people kept it running with me.

Here is my answer to "why rebuild": super drag is practically a standard feature — Maxthon, TheWorld, 360 Browser, QQ Browser, Opera, ChromePlus and many other third-party browsers all ship some version of it. Chrome never did. But Chrome's APIs and the extension platform can do far more today than they could in 2010 — more than enough to rebuild super drag properly. So in 2026 I did: a new engine that classifies a drag once and never touches the DOM while you move (about a twelfth of the cost per frame on heavy pages like YouTube), polite by design — text drops into inputs natively and pages with their own drag-and-drop keep working — a real settings UI in light and dark, and fifty-four languages.

And the rest of what Chrome forgot? Mouse gestures. The boss key. Now that the foundation is right — they're next.

Small gesture, deep thinking

Everything below ships in the free version. Pro adds power-user extras, marked PRO.

Four-direction drag

Up, down, left, right — each direction carries its own engine. Drag up for web search, down for video, left for a dictionary. You decide the mapping.

16 engines built in

Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, YouTube, Bilibili, Wikipedia and more out of the box. PRO add any engine by URL template.

Polite by design

Drop text into an input and it inserts natively. Pages with their own drag-and-drop — uploads, kanban boards, editors — keep working untouched. Hold Ctrl/ to take over.

Live drag hints

A pill follows your cursor and names the engine before you drop — and switches to “foreground” the moment you hold Shift. No blind gestures.

Tabs, your way

Open results in the background or foreground, at the end of the tab strip, or hold Shift to bring a single tab to front. Esc cancels mid-gesture.

Collects nothing

No account, no analytics, no tracking. Settings live in your browser and sync through it. License checks talk straight to the payment provider — that's the whole network story.

54 languages

Nine fully human-translated — English, Chinese (simplified & traditional), Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian — graceful fallback everywhere else.

Light & dark

A clean zinc-and-white interface that follows your system theme — settings page, popup and all. The toolbar icon stays readable on any background.

PRO Power-user extras

8-direction matrix (diagonals), per-site engine profiles, unlimited custom engines. Unlocked in the extension: Options → Pro.

Отзыв на русском

Private by default, not by promise

Super Drag has no servers, no accounts, and no telemetry. Your settings never leave your browser; the only network calls the extension ever makes are license checks, straight to the payment provider when you activate Pro.
